Consciousness Surviving Death
We are on the precipice of a new paradigm of human consciousness in life/death. Many educated and intelligent people in Western cultures have subscribed to a dogma of materialism in which they believe the brain generates consciousness and the departure of consciousness at the time of death means the end of existence of that individual. Current developments in physics, medicine, and consciousness studies, are turning the tide on this dogma of materialism, showing us what consciousness is, and how it works in human life and death. In these two interviews, you will look through a new window of Western science and medicine and see a new vision of what happens after death.
In our conversation with Dr. Eben Alexander, we talk about his detailed story of his own Near Death Experience (NDE). Among other things, his NDE opened a specific understanding about his adoption and his biological family. A neurosurgeon by profession, Dr. Alexander wrote about his NDE in a New York Times bestseller The Proof of Heaven, compelling readers to embrace a new understanding of death. He went on then to expand his account of NDEs in Living in a Mindful Universe. Because Dr. Alexander’s brain scans and medical data were well validated, he was able to establish, beyond a doubt, that his consciousness was not dependent on his brain. Dr. Alexander speaks from his individual experience in a passionate and clear way, but he also speaks as a scientist who has tested the hypothesis of consciousness after death.
Dr. Bruce Greyson, the “father of NDE’s,” is a psychiatrist and emeritus Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Virginia, who has amassed and reviewed the archives of medical studies of NDE’s from worldwide sources in Resuscitation Medicine. In his best-selling book, After, and in the current Netflix series Surviving Death, Dr. Greyson summarizes and interprets the vast knowledge gathered in thousands of validated cases of NDE. In our interview, he talks about the import of these new scientific findings, as well as some extraordinary insights from them into the nature of consciousness.
The two interviews together are guaranteed to change your mind about the meaning of consciousness in life and death. You will be sitting down with a couple of extraordinary scientists on the cutting edge of what we are discovering – brave and honest investigators who welcome the end of materialism as a philosophy of life.
